We are a community of believers united in faith and a desire to be more and more like Jesus every day. We believe that God has spoken finally and authoritatively through His Son, Jesus, the Christ, who was crucified, died, was buried, rose from the dead and has ascended again into heaven where He remains until His return to claim His bride, the church and to judge the world. This Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, has revealed His will to us in Scripture, which we diligently seek to use as our only guide for belief and practice.
We at R&C freely acknowledge that we are all sinners saved by the grace and mercy of God (Ephesians 2:4-8). An emerging faith leads us to see our sinfulness and the need to repent (John 8:24, Acts 3:19). Faith is expressed in our confession of Jesus as the Son of God and in our being baptized into Christ--where the blood of Jesus washes away our sins (Matthew 10:32, Acts 2:38; 22:16, Romans 6:1-4, Galatians 3:26,27, 1 Peter 3:21). So with the aid of the Spirit, we commit ourselves to serve Him and to be more like Him each day (Romans 8:13,14, 2 Corinthians 3:18, Titus 2:11-14).
We believe that God will continue to work in our hearts and lives through His Spirit as we are sanctified and formed into Christ’s likeness (2 Thessalonians 2:13, 1 Peter 1:2), and we believe we are called to put out of our lives things like sexual immorality, hatred, jealousy, selfishness, and rage, (Colossians 3:5-9) and to replace them with what the Bible calls the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal. 5:19-26). We believe that as a community—and as individuals—we are called to serve others (Gal. 6:10).
When we meet each Sunday, our worship—like that we read about in the New Testament—is centered around the celebration of the Lord’s Supper, and includes singing, prayer, giving, and the study and proclamation of God’s Word.
